Janel and Daniel

On September 9th 2008, Daniel and I were both invited to take part in a mutual friends music video. I arrived early with my sister Jasmine and a group of friends. Daniel later on that night arrived with his friend Teddy. The moment I saw Daniel walk in I remember telling my sister "OH MY GOD look at that Sean Jean Model"! I could have sworn on my life I saw his face on a billboard on Times Square lol. He was the most beautiful man that I had ever seen but the feeling was actually mutual. Daniel couldn’t keep his eyes off me and I felt him staring the whole time. We spent the night flirting with our eyes until we came across the perfect opportunity. The last scene of the music video required all the guest to line up on the steps and wave side to side along with the artist. As I look to my right I noticed Daniel was RIGHT NEXT TO ME!!! I said to my sister "Jaz he’s right next to me, what do I do"? I right away just reacted and asked him if he wanted to take a picture! Corny...yes maybe, but I was with a group of male friends and seemed unapproachable...I needed to give him the green light. He was surprised that I wanted to take a picture with him and smiled. We took the picture and I told him to give me his email (not phone number) so that I can email him the photo and he did...then I walked away (by the way we still have that picture).

About 30 minutes later he caught me off guard at the bar alone and he said "Hey, what’s about that number" and it was the most adorable smile I had ever seen. I clearly gave him my number and he texted me about a WEEK later (you know the one week rule). He kept texting me and I ignored him because I couldn’t seem too desperate myself lol. I remember his last text like it was yesterday. He said "Hey Janel this is Daniel Lee. We met at the music video, and took a picture together. I’ve been trying to reach you but you don't respond. I just want to get to know you and possibly take you out for dinner. This is my last attempt to reach out." I remember looking at my phone and replying IMMEDIATELY (let me not ruin this opportunity either!)  We spoke that night for 6 hours, went on our first date (that never ended) about a week later and the rest is history. He proposed to me at Astoria Park where I took him on our first date after going to two restaurants. It was the most special proposal that any one could ever ask for, it was perfect. We can’t wait to get married, start a family and spend the rest of our lives together.
